Do your older children need Baptism or First Holy Communion?

Children of age 7 or above who have yet to be baptized in the Catholic faith and/or have yet to receive their first holy communion, please contact the RCIA Coordinator for Children, Helen Park, so that a plan for sacrament preparation can be put together specifically for the individual child and their family. All plans consists of Sunday mass attendance and weekly classes.  At least one parent must attend the parent class each week which is conveniently offered at the same time the child is in his/her class.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is adapted for children in order to help them to discover their faith in God and to experience God's love in their own lives through prayer, Mass and celebration of sacraments.  This is achieved first and foremost within the support from the child's family and the assistance of the catechists and ministries of Saint William Catholic Church.

Thank you for answering the call of the Holy Spirit to learn more about the Catholic sacraments for your children and your family.

We look forward to hearing from you very soon!

"The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. The visible rites by which the sacraments are celebrated signify and make present the graces proper to each sacrament. They bear fruit in those who receive them with the required dispositions." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1131)

The Roman Catholic Church recognizes seven Sacraments:  Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation (Confession), Anointing of the Sick, Marriage, and Holy Orders.  Sacramental preparation is required for children and/or adults prior to receiving the Sacraments.

“The sacraments of Christian initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist – lay the foundations of every Christian life.” (The Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1212)
