Congratulations on your upcoming Marriage!
We are excited that you are preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony with us! It is our hope and prayer that through your journey of preparation, you will acquire a deeper understanding of what God’s plan is for your marriage, and that you will learn truths and skills to help you live out your new vocation.
Getting Started:
-
If you are getting married at Saint William or another church within the Diocese of Austin, please allow at least 9 months for your preparation. If you are marrying in another church within our Diocese, we will transfer all of your paperwork to the appropriate parties.
-
If you are getting married outside of the Diocese of Austin, please allow at least 12 months for your preparation, as all packets leaving our diocese must do so through the Office of Canonical and Tribunal Services.
-
All couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage at Saint William must attend a Sacramental Marriage Orientation session generally held the first Thursday of each month. This is the first step in your marriage preparation. The session is designed to inform you of the procedures and requirements for getting married in the Catholic Church, and to share with you the vision of what a Sacramental Marriage is.
-
After attending a Sacramental Marriage Orientation session, you will be able to set up an appointment to meet with the priest or deacon who will be the celebrant at your marriage ceremony. At this meeting you will:
-
begin the marriage preparation process
-
reserve the church/chapel if you are choosing Saint William as the place to celebrate your marriage
