Spiritual Adoption

On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the Vocation Office for the Austin Diocese and the Serra Club of Austin initiated a diocesan-wide program for the spiritual adoption of diocesan and religious priests, religious brothers and sisters, and deacons as well as seminarians, and men and women in discernment from the Diocese.

Expanding on the spiritual maternity of our Blessed Mother for each priest, we invite parishioners and staff to adopt spiritually for one year a priest, sister, brother, deacon, seminarian, and/or man or woman in discernment. Spiritual adoption includes daily prayer for perseverance of the vocation through Eucharistic adoration, a rosary, a Mass intention, a simple interior or vocal petition or a small sacrifice.

To ensure that all members of the local clergy, religious, seminarians, women and men in discernment are prayed for daily, we asked that “adopting mothers and fathers” complete the attached Spiritual Adoption Form and return to the address provided on the form.

Download the Spiritual Adoption form in the Resources section below.
