Faith Formation Administrative Assistant

Job Description:

The full time Administrative Assistant assists the ministry of the Church by providing support for the Office of Faith Formation. The position reports to the Director of Faith Formation and works in collaboration of the faith formation team.

 

Duties:

·         Greets families and assist in the registration process for faith formation

·         Organizes and maintains data, records, and documents

·         Copies and organizes materials for faith formation sessions

·         Provides hospitality for special events

·         Flexible works schedule (afternoon and early evenings during the school year), some weekends as needed in the fall and spring

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Knowledge of Roman Catholic teachings, and parish structure.

·         Ability to answer phones and provide excellent customer service Ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Power Point programs as well as the ability to learn parish software

·         Ability to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

·         Ability to work effectively with staff, clergy, and laity

·         Ability to be flexible, and to carry out multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and implement creative solutions

·         Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format
Ability to work in a multi-cultural parish serving various cultures and a wide range of age groups

·         Ability to proficiently communicate in English and Spanish (writing, reading and conversing)

·         Ability to lift twenty pounds

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         High School Diploma or GED acceptable to Texas Education Agency.

·         One (1) year of full time wage earning related work experience is required.

·         Bilingual English-Spanish (proficient in writing, reading and conversing).

·         Catholic and in good standing with the Church

·         Valid Texas driver’s license.

·         Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
