A Message from our Pastor

Dear St. William Parishioners,

Happy Easter! I pray this finds you well and in the best of spirits. As we continue to journey through the Easter season, I am writing about many of your concerns about the use of Latin Mass parts during our liturgy. Our staff and I are grateful for your positive and constructive feedback and comfort in voicing your concerns. Know that I made the decision to pray the Mass parts during the Lenten and Easter Season in January 2024. Here is the link with our explanation.

My thinking was: 1) Latin is the official language of the Church, 2) During the different liturgical seasons it makes a distinction between the different seasons and draws us deeper into the mystery of the liturgy. My intention was pure and for the good of our parish, and not related to or in response to anything going on in surrounding parishes. My objective also was not to foment division, frustration, lack of participation, or disrupt the flow of the liturgy. If any of you experienced any of this, as your pastor, I apologize.

The plan was to return to the vernacular after the Easter Season, but beginning this weekend (April 20-21), we will be returning the Mass parts to the vernacular in each of our Masses. Many of you complimented the beautiful music and appreciated the Latin Mass parts and I am thankful for your support. May God continue to bless the good work He has begun in our parish.
